Eye and vision exams

Our goal is to provide comprehensive, primary eye care for the whole family. Preventive and routine eye exams are essential for maintaining good eye health. Often, eye and vision problems do not have noticeable symptoms or signs but are easily diagnosed by a licensed optometrist. By diagnosing eye and vision conditions early on, our optometrists can provide treatment options and in many cases restore or prevent vision loss. The American Optometric Association recommends yearly or bi-yearly eye and vision exams, depending on whether you are at-risk or not.

  • Vision & Eye Function Testing
Regular vision testing ensures that you always have the most precise vision possible. Our optometrists provide routine vision acuity tests as part of a comprehensive eye exam. They measure how each eye is working by using a wall eye chart and a reading eye chart. The results of your vision test determine whether the doctors prescribe corrective glasses, contacts, or eye exercises.

An exam in our office also includes testing eye functionality. Our optometrists execute several tests to gauge depth perception, color vision, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and light responsiveness. Other simple tests may be performed to determine whether the eyes are focusing, moving, and working together correctly. The test results allow our doctors to diagnose any underlying conditions that may be impairing the eyes' ability to focus or work together.

  • Eye Health
Our optometrists examine the overall health of the eye through a visual examination and tonometry. They evaluate eye health by visually inspecting the eye and eyelids. For examining the internal structures of the eye, they may dilate the pupils. An indicator of glaucoma is increased eye pressure, so our doctors utilize tonometry to measure eye pressure. After completing these short tests, our doctors review the results and discuss treatment options with you. Contact us today to schedule a comprehensive eye exam.

  • EIDON Digital Retinal Photography
At Eye Care Center, we are proud to offer the cutting edge in retinal diagnostic photography. Digital retinal scans are the first line of defense in detecting issues with your eye health and with your overall health. The Eidon camera creates a 3-dimensional view of the inner structures of your eyes, allowing our doctors to monitor and diagnose a variety of health conditions. For many retinal conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), early diagnosis and treatment can help delay or prevent vision loss, slow progression of the disease, and alleviate symptoms.
